Nuclear Medicine Laboratory opened at Heliodor Swiecicki Hospital
Nuclear Medicine Laboratory has been established at the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Internal Medicine of H. Swiecicki Hospital.
The lab is fully equipped for diagnostics and treatment with the use of open source radiation. Together with a highly qualified staff, the laboratory is prepared to help a wider range of cancer patients than before. For example, the SPECT/CT, which is essential for thyroid cancer diagnostics, allowed to shorten the time patients had to wait to get the scan from 3 months to one week.
Heliodor Swiecicki PUMS Clinical Hospital, prof. Małgorzata Wierzbicka explains, is a multispecialty medical facility which allows for a comprehensive treatment of head and neck cancers. The Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Internal Medicine which owns the laboratory has been the first in Poland to introduce the treatment of endocrine disorders with radioactive isotopes over 60 years ago.
